Ernest is an award winning documentary filmmaker, and accredited writer and editor. He started as an online editor/ VFX compositor in 2001 for high-end commercial post-production in Sydney, Australia. In 2005, he took a break from post production to lead the research, recording and the production of the feature documentary, Laya Project (2007). The internationally acclaimed documentary captures the resilience of the human spirit through the music of the coastal communities affected by the 2004 Tsunami in Indonesia, Thailand, Myanmar, India, Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
Ernest has since directed, shot, and edited a Burmese music documentary in Myanmar (Voice Over the Bridge, 2008), worked freelance as cameraman in Israel and edited indigenous documentaries in Australia with focus on urban identity and the preservation of Aboriginal language and culture.
Jalanan (Streetside, 2013), a feature-length Indonesian documentary that Ernest co-produced, written and edited, won the Best Documentary award in the prestigious Busan International Film Festival 2013 in Korea and the People's Choice Award for Best Documentary at the Melbourne International Film Festival 2014 in Australia. Jalanan follows three marginalized street musicians in Jakarta who are struggling to lead meaningful lives, in a city rapidly overrun by the effects of globalization and corruption.
Ernest managed an editing and post production studio in Ubud, Bali - Indonesia from 2010 to 2015, where he offers full HD post production services from editing, colour grading, sound design and audio production for international clients.
Since 2015, living and traveling between Europe and Asia, Ernest offers services as a consultant and in mentorship program for other filmmakers. From advising on project ideas and research to Story Consultation and Story Editing for narrative in both documentary and fiction. He's also offer services as Production and Post Production consultant.
